Sound Healing and Energy Sprays

My work in Moon in Libra, incorporates many different healing modalities – Massage, reiki, shamanic healing, womb wrapping, yoni steaming and sound healing, as well as women's circles, drumming circles, retreats, ceremonial space holding, Goddess centred spirituality – particularly Dark Goddesses such as Lilith, Hekate, Medusa.

So on the surface it may look like there are many strings to my bow, eggs in my basket and my work is seemingly multifaceted – but to me, I believe it is all very much connected.

I have been mulling over what it is that connects all of the many branches of my work – what is the root and the common factor between them and the answer came to me when I was planning this blog – the thread that weaves through all of my work is the same that connects all things – vibration, frequency and energy. This is the underlying factor that lies at the heart of not just my work, but all spiritual healing.

Nikola Tesla is often quoted as saying ‘If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration’. On a macrocosmic level the universe is not static, it is dynamic, oscillating, rhythmic. Stars pulse, atoms vibrate and light and sound travel in waves – and on a microcosmic level – so do we.

In this blog I will be focusing on 2 areas of my work that may not at first glance appear to be connected, but when you delve into the science behind them, you see that they are very much connected and complimentary to each other also – these are sound healing and energy sprays Within my work I offer group sound baths as well as 1-2-1 sound healing sessions. So what is sound healing? And how does it work?

The answer to this is vibration – and this works in a few ways that we can explore.

Firstly we can look at our brain waves –

Brain wave frequency refers to the cycles per second of electrical activity in the brain.

Our brainwaves vibrate at different frequencies in response to external stimulus.

Gamma – high alert, excitement, intense problem solving, optimum focus.

Beta – awake, thinking, planning, problem solving.

Alpha – awake but relaxed

Theta – Deep relaxation but awake, or light sleep.

Delta – Deep Sleep, physical restoration.

When your brain perceives a particular type of sound it will begin to vibrate at the same frequency as the sound. Your body’s internal vibrations change in response to the frequencies that you hear from the outside world. That means the sounds that you hear impact what is happening inside your body,

This phenomenon is called Entrainment: a law of physics where two or more oscillating bodies synchronize their rhythms. The more powerful or rhythmic pattern can cause the less powerful one to lock into phase with it. Examples include pendulums on a clock and the synchronization of women's menstrual cycles.

Sound healing instruments are attuned to frequencies that that work in this way with our brainwaves.

Brainwave entrainment: The sound waves from these instruments can gently encourage the brain's electrical activity (brainwaves) to slow down from a stressed, active state to a more relaxed, meditative state.

The overall aim of Sound Healing is Restoring harmony - The body, including its cells, organs, and systems, is thought to have its own natural frequencies. When disrupted by stress or illness, these rhythms can become out of sync. Sound healing, through entrainment, aims to bring these frequencies back into harmony and balance. 

Cymatics is a branch of science that helps us to visualise sound pioneered by Hans Jenny in the 1960s.

He showed how when sound frequencies move through water, sand and other mediums they create beautiful harmonious geometric shapes, as the frequency shifted, so did the pattern. This showed us for the first time that sound doesn’t just pass through matter – it organises matter.

Through cymatics we can see how certain frequencies create beautiful harmonious patterns, and others create chaotic and disharmonious patterns. Through this we can get an understanding of sound as something that is connected deeply to sacred geometry. When sound waves are played through water, salt or sand we see the development of incredible sacred geometric patterns.

Dr Emoto – Here is where the sound healing and energy sprays overlap. The work of Dr Emoto.

In his book The Hidden Messages in Water – which I believe everyone should read. Dr Emoto explores the affects of words and our intentions upon water molecules.

Dr. Emoto's experiment involved exposing water samples to various stimuli like positive or negative words, music, and thoughts, then freezing the water and photographing the resulting ice crystals. He claimed that positive inputs created beautiful, symmetrical crystals, while negative inputs resulted in distorted, asymmetrical structures.  He also claimed that water from pristine sources formed beautiful crystals, while polluted water formed distorted structures – which is why I only use water from the Red and White Springs in Glastonbury in my energy sprays.

So when you consider the fact that our bodies are made up of over 70% water – it becomes fairly obvious how and why sound healing creates a sense of harmony and balance, not just in our minds, but within the very cells of our body.
