TRUE BALANCE, TRUE CONNECTION: Birthing my Womb Drum part 2 - astrological and symbolic energies surrounding the birthing of Bea (Beautiful Beast).

Following on from my first blog post I am writing this to document the birthing of my new drum and to explore the symbology and astrological energies that surrounded her birthing and are held within the drum.

Like me she was birthed on a Sunday in November. The 30th November 2025 in my womb room. Clare brought her to my home and we settled down to continue with the birthing of this beast of a drum. As we worked and the hide became fixed to the hoop- and the shape of the drum came together I began to talk to her and the words that kept coming were 'You are a Beautiful Beast!' - I have decided to shorten that to Bea - the name means 'blessed' which feels like a good name for her, so I will refer to her as Bea from now on

We worked together to complete the process of birthing Bea. The hide is very thick in places and the hairs made it tricky in places to thread it through, we needed to really tug to get the strap through the holes at times.

As we threaded her I was thinking about the symbolism and synchronicities around the creation of Bea and what she means to me. Her colours of black and white, the pattern of the handle on the back - originally I had planned to bind the handle in a triple spiral shape, but something was telling me that it needed to be in a spiral with 4 spokes - the masculine energy wanted to be present on this drum. I pondered whether the hide came from a male or female horse. But either way I felt strongly that this drum symbolised balance for me. I've felt both very grounded, and very connected to spirit as I birthed her. The energies of black and white, the alternating thickness and thinness of the hide, light and dark, male and female, storms and rainbows, how the process seemed to be both very hard work, yet effortlessly manifested into reality, she has a real sense of divine timing and destiny about her, all of these energies surrounding this birthing intensify that sense of balance. Bea is simultaneously huge and powerful, and calming and gentle and I get the sense that her healing energy will be rooted in bringing balance to the body, mind and spirit - and to the womb.

Journeying on the Shamanic Womb Medicine wheel is all about bringing inner balance to your womb, Bea is the perfect drum for the job!

Astrologically Bea was birthed on a day in which Venus entered Sagittarius. For me on a personal level this was perfect - its all about forging new connections and for me more importantly about forging TRUE connections. I have had a year in which false light, false love and false connections were revealed to me, making way for that which is true to be discovered and space to allow those true connections to be seen and nurtured.

So this transit of Venus - from Scorpio on the day the birthing began, into Sagittarius on the day we completed her, is just perfect - that introspective, self explorative, internalised shadow hunting energy of Scorpio present within her as we worked in Rainbows and storms beginning the process, and the fiery, ready for expansion, growth and connection that Venus in Sagittarius brings is perfect.

As well as this we have the transition from the Chinese year of the Wood Snake - which my Scorpionic energy has thrived and revelled in all year, building my power and sovereignty massively, into the year of Fire Horse - the energy of movement, intensity and passion, action, confidence, expansion and creative growth.

Bea is currently resting as she cures and dries, I will be holding a ceremony to officially welcome her and play her for the first time on in the Chinese New Year on February 17th 2026, so look out for part 3 of this blog around then.
